Trial To Begin for Man Accused of Ramming Teen in Road Rage Incident

Robert Allen Barnhart of Bellflower, CA

According to an Article by Paige Austin, on the Los Alamitos - Seal Beach Patch website, Bellflower Resident, Robert Allen Barnhart, 53, is accused of repeatedly crashing into and chasing a teen driver through Los Alamitos is scheduled to go to trial today on 11 felony charges.

The incident occurred in November when Barnhart was rear-ended in his pick-up truck by an 18-year-old driver in an Isuzu Rodeo on Bloomfield Avenue, according to the Los Alamitos Police Department.

Both men got out of their cars, and Barnhart became livid, according to Los Alamitos Police.
Barnhart allegedly chased the other driver and his passenger to a nearby gas station and rear-ended him as the driver pulled into the station. The chase continued as both drivers headed down Bloomfield and then east on Ball Road into Cypress.

According to investigators, Barnhart continued ram the other driver, sideswiping him and causing he Isuzu to spin into oncoming traffic.

“He turned the victim’s vehicle around so that he was facing west into eastbound traffic lanes,” Captain Bruce McAlpine said at the time of the arrest. “Apparently Barnhart was still not satisfied, and he gave chase again.”

In an effort to evade Barnhart, the teenage driver continued heading west into oncoming traffic. In a fourth and final collision, Barnhart turned his truck into the Isuzu, crashing into it and bringing both vehicles to a stop, said McAlpine.

“Mr. Barnhart got out of his vehicle and pulled the victim out of his vehicle and hit him,” said McAlpine.

Throughout the chase, several witnesses called 911, and police from Los Alamitos and Cypress arrived on the scene to arrest Barnhart.

Barnhart was taken into custody and released on $50,000 bail. Today’s scheduled preliminary hearing will determine if there is enough evidence in the case to move forward with the trial.

New details emerge in Artesia shooting that resulted in death of a 60 year old male (Artesia)

According to LosCerritosNews.net, in a report by Randy Economy, new details are emerging surrounding a shooting early Thursday morning that resulted in the death of an Artesia resident. CBS has reported the mans name to be Serafin Garcia (60) of Artesia.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide confirmed to Los Cerritos Community Newspaper that detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of the man whose body was found at the 11900 block of Arkansas Street at around 1:50 A.M. on Thursday morning.

Detectives said that deputies were patrolling the area when they noticed a parked vehicle with a broken window. “Upon further investigation, the deputies found a trail of blood leading from the vehicle to the front yard of the location, where they then found the victim, a 60 year-old man, who was unresponsive and had gunshot wounds to his upper torso,” said Deputy Kim Manatt a Sheriff’s spokeswoman.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. There is no suspect information. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. Sgt. Peterson of the Lakewood Sheriff’s Department said it is believed that the shooting may have occurred near the 11900 block of 167th Street. “The investigation is still in the early stages,” Peterson said.

LCCN has been sent a number of emails from residents who live near the location including one from Ed Medrano, who claims he knew the victim. “I know this man and his family as they used to rent from my dad in the same lot where we lived on Arkansas St. He was a soft-spoken man and always generous. This is a tragedy as he was the type of person that wouldn’t hurt a fly. Our thoughts and prayers are with the remaining family that they find strength in this terrible time they find themselves in. I hope they find the cowards that don’t even think about the consequences of their actions,” Medrano wrote to this newspaper on Thursday afternoon.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
